We are working to update the site, since it has not been updating like it has (sorry for the ghost town here).
In the meantime, check us out on facebook, here.
We are a local, community based, program located in Seward, NE that provides clothing to any child in need. If you would like to make a monetary or clothing donation, or are in need of clothing, please contact us at (402) 646-0542.

Update time! We have several things coming up, and we need your help spreading the word! As always, liking our page, sharing our posts, and encouraging your friends to do the same is how we get the word out.
First up, a big thank you to Kathy Miller, who has once again sent us students from Concordia to volunteer, they help us so much, and we very much appreciate all they do to help us!
Next up, our Christmas Toy Giveaway is quickly approaching, and once again, we need batteries for all those toys to work! We are collecting donations of batteries, 9V, AA, AAA, C, and D, and you can drop them off at the Faith Lutheran Church office, any time Tues-Fri, 8 AM - 1 PM. Just one package of batteries helps make a kids Christmas!
Also, we are only 22 days until Scare at the Fair! This is such an awesome event, and this year it's going to be bigger than last year! It will be held at the Ag Pavillion building at the fairgrounds, and there will be a lot of games and candy for the little ones (and inside, out of the weather is a bonus). Help us by spreading the word. It will be going on Saturday, October 31 at 4:00pm - 7:00pm, we hope to see you there, and be sure to stop by our booth and say hi!You can find the event page here:https://www.facebook.com/events/920747937961967/

We are currently working with a group from Concordia College called Project Homeless, which is gathering winter coats to be distributed directly to the homeless population.
What we are needing is heavy winter coats (used is great, but no dress coats, these are going to people who will be homeless this winter). Both men's and women's coats are needed, but our greatest need would be the men's coats.
If you have some coats to donate, please either contact us via Facebook, and we can arrange a time to meet you. If you want, you can drop off them off on the porch of our building (421 Faith Lane, the brick house next to Faith Lutheran Church on second street, it's the old Head Start building) and someone will be checking daily for drop offs.
THANK YOU!

Been to Pac 'N' Save and seen the Grocery Grab fund raiser poster? Wondered what it's all about? Well, the Seward Rotary has chosen us for their community project, and is helping us get a vehicle!
We are beyond excited!
This is a big one, and we need your help! Please help spread the word (tell your friends, reshare and like our page!) and most importantly, buy some tickets! Tickets can be purchased at Pac ‘N’ Save (at the customer service counter), at the Seward County Independent, or from any Seward Rotarian.
For every ticket purchased, it will directly help us meet our goal of raising funds to purchase a vehicle. Having a vehicle will help us serve the smaller, local communities with a mobile shop, and also help us to assist in times of natural disasters. We are super excited that they have chosen us, and we are excited for what the future holds! If you see or know anyone who belongs to the Seward Rotary, tell them thank you for supporting us.

It has been very interesting on some of the connections we have made! When we got a surplus of bikes we called MAD DADS and donated them for their bike program. Maternity clothes and surplus baby clothes (newborn to 4T) are donated to Lincoln Crisis Pregnancy Center. Scrubs are given to the People City Mission, who gives them to people needing work clothes. We help Project Recycle for Life whenever they have a need that we can fill. Prom dresses are passed to Kitty for her Prom dress project. Three boxes of towels were donated to Blue River Pet Rescue for their dog wash coming up in May. When you donate to Foster Friends you are helping us help your community but you are also helping us reach out to many other worthy causes!
Thank you so much for supporting us!

Just posting a quick update on what's been going on so far.
Our Christmas toy giveaway was a success, with well over 150 children receiving toys for Christmas!
We are currently in the process of revamping this site a bit, making it easier for us to update (sorry about that if you follow us on here) and we will be better about sharing what's up on here, as well as our facebook page! Many thanks to everyone who continues to support us!

We are currently stocking up on Halloween costumes, because we will be heading out to help Project Recycling for Life with their winter give away on Saturday October 25, 2014 in the Firth community center in Firth NE from 10:00 am til 5:00 pm.
So, if you have some gently used costumes that you could pass along, we would gladly take them.
Please reshare to help spread the word, and why not invite your friends to like the page, because we can't do what we do without help from you! More likes equals more views, more views means we can reach those who need help!

As we all gear up for the back to school season, (seriously, where did summer go?!) please keep us in mind if you, or someone you know, is struggling to outfit their kids. We can provide clothes, no hoops to jump through, no red tape, no special criteria, and nobody is turned away, ever! If we can help, we will do whatever we can. (402) 646-0542
Please help us get the word out, like our Facebook Page (invite your friends to do the same), reshare our post, and help spread the word. The more interaction we have from all of you, the more people see our posts!
Thank you for everything!

Remember, to anyone displaced by the severe weather and tornadoes, we can provide clothing, bedding, children's toys, and hygiene items! We are working with several emergency management agencies, but please reshare our post, like our page and help get the word out so we can reach those who need it! Our thoughts and prayers go out to our fellow Nebraskans who have suffered. You can reach us, 24/7, at (402) 646-0542.

While we love Facebook for it's ability to reach the people who can help us, or better, the people we can help, we are finding some inherent flaws in the way Facebook operates. For example, a new post, will only be seen by a third of our followers. In order for us to reach all of our followers, we have to pay in order for us to promote our own post, to those people who already liked our page!
We simply don't have the big time budget (yet ;) ) to throw 30 dollars on every post in order to get it seen.
So that's why it's important to share our website, reshare our facebook posts, or follow us on Google Plus and help spread the word!

I attended the Bridges Annual meeting the other day and what a great experience. Other than me not being much of a prolific speaker ;) it was wonderful to be in a room with people who are truly passionate about serving the community, and to hear the support others have for our mission. I left truly humbled and inspired.
We are continuing to strive forward with our goal to help any child, foster child or not, irregardless of the situation. We will meet our goal with help from Bridges, and all of you, that I am sure.
We are at 150 likes already, nice! Please help us get the word out, reshare our page, encourage others to click that like button to follow our page, because it does help us get the word out to those who need it.
Thank you!

We just finished helping a family with clothes and other needed items. It was emotional for everyone. Now, when I say we, I don't mean just my wife and I, that would be missing the mark about what we are doing. While my wife and I get the immediate thank yous, and the satisfaction of knowing we have maybe brought a little ray of hope into someone's life, it shouldn't end there. Everyone who has helped, to the people who donate clothes, to those who have helped sort or those who have donated money that help us keep going, or those who just mention our name as a place that can help. Even those who just say thank you, that keeps us doing this. Hundreds have made this possible. We wouldn't even ave a place to do this if it weren't for Faith Lutheran believing in our crazy idea.
You all deserve the thank you's and accolades. We act as the conduit, the path that helps good deeds find those who need it, nothing more. Just as donations come in and we pass those along, the path needs to go both ways, and the gratitude we receive has to come back to those who have made all this possible.
Saying thank you seems so...inadequate, but, thank you.

Thank you time!
As things have slowed down a bit, we have some time to write up our overdue (and in no way it is enough) "thanks to these people".
First up we have Seward Girl Scout Troop 20292, who came in with a mission, and in one day, built us racks to hang clothes and assembled shelves for us to use. All of our rooms now have racks to hang clothes, and we are very grateful to them for the hard work they put in. Lori and Lance Todd, and our sawman Doyle Garrett put in some serious time as well, and it would not have been possible without their hard work.
We also have a big thank you to Greg Mueller at Seward Sack Lumber, who donated the building materials to build the racks. He has also been a big help to us through donations. Stop by Sack Lumber and be sure to tell him thank you for supporting us!
Sheesh I forgot to mention the Seward VFW Post 4755 who approved our application for a community grant and their grant has supplied us with shelving units and other vital supplies. We continue to help the community because of them!
This post would not be complete with mentioning Tammy Granner Mackie from the Second Closet here in Seward. She does so much to support not only us, but numerous local organizations. Her commitment to supporting the community is an inspiration to us, and we cannot thank her enough. Support your local businesses, because they do much more than they get credit for!
To all the people who have contacted us about donations, THANK YOU. None of this would be possible without you. There are over 40 children who have good clothing to wear because of you, and that is what we are all about!

Thank you!
We are very excited to be working with Seward Girl Scout Troop 20292, the Cadet group of sixth graders, as they have chosen our organization as their community service project! As an Eagle Scout myself, it makes me proud to see today's youth taking the initiative to better their community through projects such as this, and we are very honored they chose us. They will be building us shelves, and much needed hanging racks to help us organize, and we can't say thank you enough!

We are there
What started off as a small project between my wife and I to serve foster parents, all the while planning to eventually broaden our scope and serve more people, has quickly grown to something larger. We anticipated the community stepping up and stocking us with some clothing, but when we stepped back and looked (plus having to move it a few times) we were astounded. Astounded that this small community would provide us with more than we could ever imagine.
What an awesome community this is, there is simply no other way to put it. To the great people at Faith Lutheran Church and Seward County Bridges who have been behind us the entire way, to my parents and family, who never questioned what we set out to do, and simply asked what can we do to help.

So we have pushed forward our plan into the next phase. We will provide clothing for any child that needs it, regardless of what the circumstances are. We were kind of vague about who we were going to serve in the beginning, and for that I apologize, we didn't want to make any promises we couldn't keep. If we run out of clothing tomorrow, then at least we did what we set out to do, help.
Whether it's a teen who needs a set of dress clothes for a job interview, or a family struggling with buying school clothes. A family that has lost everything in a fire, or if someone just wants a special dress for a special little girl that they normally couldn't get, we will do everything we can to help them out. If you know of anyone that could use our help, please, call us.
Thank you so much, and keep being awesome Seward,
Troy Hiser
